No Love, No Hate do
About this drama
Kaelin runs a powerful gang, and he's wrong about one thing with his whole chest: he mistakes the scheming Elowen for his white moonlight, and punishes the person who actually loves him. That person is Sorrel, his contract lover, enduring the humiliation for a concrete reason, funding his sister's heart transplant. The grinding is severe: Sorrel sells blood, tests risky drugs, exhausts himself, and when his sister needs critical medical transport, Kaelin withholds it for the sake of Elowen's fake illness. The sister dies. Sorrel pays back all the money and vanishes. One name note before the ending, the copy calls him Kaelin throughout and then signs off calling him Kael, and I've kept both spellings rather than pick one for the listing. The truth does surface, Elowen's lies included, and Kaelin destroys his rival, but the win is hollow: Sorrel is gone, carrying irreversible organ damage from the years of deprivation. The search runs long. What Kaelin eventually finds is a terminally ill Sorrel who has let go of all love and hate, and who passes away peacefully, leaving the gang leader alive inside an endless, lifelong remorse with no redemption attached. Thirty-two episodes, and the copy is unusually committed to denying the comfort. This is the rare short that tells you up front the ending is permanent.
