My Blood Lion Husband Is a Cat
About this drama
The rumour says Cassian Ashbourne is the Blood Lion, a cold-blooded warlord guarding the Northern Marches, ruthless in battle, harbouring a bloodthirsty beast within that loses control beneath the full moon. Elara Arden, daughter of a fallen noble house, is forced to wed him to spare her family's lives. She goes in expecting a monster, and the blurb has her concealing a dagger beneath her wedding gown, resolved to die alongside him on their wedding night. Then the full moon rises and the joke lands. Cassian shifts, and instead of a lion, out comes a colossal long-haired calico cat, larger than a warhorse, its fur swirled with black, white, copper and orange, imposing golden beast eyes, and a voice that can only manage thunderous meows. The cat tackles Elara, licks her face, kneads her clothes, overturns the furniture, shreds the curtains, and leaves the bridal chamber in ruins. She covers for him on the spot, telling the priest and guards who burst in that the chaos was her husband's wedding-night fervour, and the copy counts that as the first time she deflects suspicion from him. The antagonist is Cardinal Severin Crowe, who rules the Church, wants Cassian's military authority and northern territories, brands all beastfolk abominations, and sends assassins to storm the castle again and again. I have to flag the source here: the official description cuts off mid-sentence at fifteen hundred characters, right as the Cardinal deploys silver tableware and poisoned wine, so everything after that point stays out of this summary. What I have is a comedy wearing a warlord's uniform, and thirty episodes for the Church siege.
