In this world the old pacts still bind human beings to the creatures of the night, and the terms are not equal. The Lycan King has ruled the kingdom for a long time and is the most dangerous thing in it. He is strong, savage, and driven by a curse older than his reign. A young woman is chosen for him, and she is the only one whose presence calms the beast he keeps barely containing. The cost of that is stated plainly. To be his means surrendering her life to darkness, to the secrets of his court and to the blood. What she has to work out is whether accepting the bond is a choice or something done to her. The blood moon is coming, and passion and danger arrive with it. The heart does not always choose well, and some bonds are stronger than death.
