Lifeguard Of My Wrecked Heart
About this drama
I keep coming back to how little there is here, one hundred fifty characters, two sentences. I'd rather say that up front than dress it up. A woman runs from a wedding and jumps into the sea, and a man catches her on his surfboard, wearing nothing but red shorts and a secret that could drown her twice. That's the whole canon. For two sentences it's honestly good copy, so let me slow down over it. She's escaping mid-ceremony, the sea is a real sea and not a metaphor, and the lifeguard arrives carrying his body and his baggage in the same breath. The red shorts are the cover and the secret is the hook, and when the copy says drown her twice, it's telling you two things at once, that the secret has water in it and that she'll have to survive it more than once. I've started reading the title as the third sentence the copy never wrote, because a wrecked heart is what she brings with her and a lifeguard is, by trade, the man whose whole job is not letting her go under. Who she was marrying, what the secret is, and whether the wedding comes looking are none of them written down, and I'm not going to make any of it up. Thirty episodes stretched over two sentences of premise, so my guess is the secret gets unpacked slowly across the middle, but that's arithmetic on the listing, not a fact about the plot.
