He's As Pretty As Her
About this drama
The official copy labels itself right away, it calls this a sweet campus BL drama, and the premise it then builds is appropriately silly. Liam, a college student, secretly crushes on Chloe, only to witness her confess to his rival roommate Ethan. Filled with jealousy, Liam plans to cross-dress as a cute girl named Lily to seduce Ethan and expose his bisexuality, which is a plan with several obvious flaws, and the copy names the biggest one: Ethan has long been in love with plain Liam instead of Chloe. Better still, Ethan sees through the disguise at once and plays along, quietly drawing the stubborn straight boy to face his hidden feelings. So the deception runs in reverse the whole time, the seducer is the seduced, and the audience is in on it from the start. The middle is a string of awkward dates, hidden kisses and public online rumors, which push the two to resolve their misunderstandings. The ending is given, Liam drops the fake identity, admits his love for Ethan, and clears up all the messes together with Chloe's understanding, which is a detail I like, the rival crush ends up as the ally. Thirty-two episodes. What's unlisted is how public the online rumors get and what almost outs Liam before he's ready, so the middle episodes have room to work. Light, self-aware, and the copy knows exactly what show it's selling.
