Golden Scales, Broken Vows
About this drama
One long sentence, 211 characters, is all the official synopsis gives you, and I couldn't find a longer one anywhere, so this summary stays inside its lines. A mermaid is thrown into the bay as a blood supply for another woman. She's dying when the story finds her. Then she wakes in a hunter CEO's bath, which is the pivot, and her dull gray scales split open into gold. From there the copy gives one trajectory and almost no plot: every man who claimed her body begins to fear her crown. I've read that ending a few times, and the grammar is doing the storytelling. The men are the constant, and what changes is her, from supply to sovereign, from gray to gold, and their response to her flips from entitlement to fear. The hunter CEO is the detail I keep circling, because his profession is hunting and she's the thing that surfaced in his bath, but the blurb doesn't say which side of that line he lands on once the gold shows. Eighty episodes for a one-sentence premise means the middle is entirely unlisted: who the other woman is, why mermaid blood was needed, and what a crown even means with hunters walking around. What the copy does promise is the arc. She was thrown away as a resource, and the story is the men learning, one by one, what she's become.
