Tailless Omega Merman Hunts His Mate
About this drama
Royal merman Lir saves human Caleb from a storm and seals a life-blood bond with him, and everything that follows grows out of that one rescue. Caleb is manipulated by the cruel base boss Kane into believing mermen killed his father, so when he captures the pregnant Lir, the revenge is physical and specific: he cruelly cuts off his golden tail and tears out his scales. The copy doesn't soften that, and I wouldn't either, because the story's whole debt is built on it. After Lir's twin royal mermaid babies are born, Kane covets their magical power and holds the kids hostage. The truth arrives the way truths tend to in these plots, gradually: Caleb uncovers the full story, that Kane framed the merman clan and murdered Caleb's dad himself, in order to steal royal blood power. So the man who orchestrated the revenge was the man who caused the loss being avenged. Bound by what the copy calls the unbreakable blood contract, Caleb and Lir endure endless pain, misunderstandings and separations, and then join hands to defeat Kane, sacrifice their lives to save each other, and finally build a peaceful seaside home with their twin children, healing all past wounds together. That ending is stated outright, so this is a repair story rather than a revenge tragedy. Forty episodes, and the middle is where the unlisted detail lives, in how the sacrifices reverse, and in what the twins' power is actually for.
