Reborn in America's Golden Age
About this drama
Christmas Eve 1964, and the copy opens on a man being discarded. Jack Allen has been drained of all value by the Houghton family and left in the snow, and only while dying does he learn that his wife Winnie and their two daughters perished because of his callousness. Remorse buys him a reset: he is reborn twenty years back, on the very day he knelt begging the Houghtons to take him in, ready to abandon his parents and his pregnant wife. The second life is a ledger of corrections run in order. He publicly rejects the Houghtons and injures Robert in the process. He races to the Allen Farm and rescues Winnie, who is about to give birth. He uses memories of rising firewood prices during the blizzard to earn his first pot of gold, pays the medical bills, and buys back a sliver of his family's trust. The rebuild then scales up. He impresses Katherine Whitney by predicting stock trends, publicly humiliates the Houghtons at the Windsor Hotel, and gets Winnie addressed as Mrs. Allen with respect for the first time. The potato business accumulates capital, and he discovers Winnie's talent for needlework and color, designing the Golden Stitch handbag with her. Promoted through Katherine's circle of society ladies, Golden Stitch becomes a hit. The Houghtons, lured by profit, try to seize the agency and discover the real owner is the Jack they drove away. The copy then stops mid sentence, on the words Robert privately, so whatever Robert does next is left outside the text. Sixty episodes, complete, 685 views. The listing gives a full financial comeback and withholds only the final confrontation.
